Meet Our Caring And Friendly Staff

Dr. Brenda Day

Dr. Brenda Day grew up in a small town in Montana. She graduated with an engineering degree and after working five years in the aeronautical field she returned to school to pursue a more rewarding career. She graduated with a veterinary degree from Washington State University in 1999 and after working at Five Mile Pet Clinic for nine years, she and Dr. Carrie Forster opened the Cat's Meow Feline Veterinary Clinic. At home she lives with her husband, several cats, dogs and horses. In her spare time she enjoys photography, birding, traveling and wine tasting

Dr. Carrie Forster

After practicing in mixed animal hospitals, Dr. Carrie started the Cat's Meow feline-only clinic with Dr. Brenda Day in 2007 in order to focus on feline health. Dr. Carrie enjoys providing excellent care for our mysterious, sweet and spicy felines with their unique and often obscure health issues. Even with over 26 years in this field, she enjoys that every day is different and is delighted with improving the life of kitties.

Dr. Carrie grew up in Seattle and attended undergraduate studies at Shoreline CC and Western Washington University and later earned a diploma of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University in '99.

Although she grew up in the city, she always wanted to live in the country and now enjoys her farm life in Elk. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Carrie loves time with her grown kiddos and is always busy tending to the farm - raising Wensleydale sheep but also tending to the myriad of other farm critters (no elephants!). In her 'spare' time she enjoys riding her bikes, skiing, boating, pestering her horse, live music, while always looking for the next adventure. And of course, when she slows down...she adores hanging with her little clowder!

Laurie

Laurie is usually the smiling voice you hear when phoning. She

is our full time, very much appreciated, very competent

receptionist. Laurie grew up in the Pinehurst, Idaho part of the

area known as Silver Valley. She moved to Spokane Valley in

2004. She has four legged furry kids.

She loves spending time with them at home in the Valley.

Kris

Kris is a vital part of all aspects of our practice. She is not only a fill-in receptionist and veterinary assistant, Kris is also our bookkeeper and office manager. Without Kris, we could not function. Kris grew up in a very small town in Montana and goes back frequently to visit family who still live in the area. Kris is married and enjoys spending time with her wonderful grandboys, JD and Wyatt, her granddaughter Ayla and playing with her dog Tilly and cats Izzy and Willy.

Kennedi

Kennedi is a dedicated veterinary assistant with a lifelong passion for working with animals. Her love for animals has guided her career and shaped her professional journey. She balances her demanding job with her family life, always finding joy in both. Her diverse interests and strong work ethic make her a unique and inspiring individual both in her professional and personal life.

Tawnie

I found my passion for animals early on and decided to turn it into a profession. I received my BS in biology from Whitworth University in 2016. I have been working in the field for 8 years. I have volunteered with many animals from cats and dogs to hawks and owls. In my free time I enjoy being out in nature whether it be hiking, kayaking, or long walks with my furry nieces and nephews.

Sydney

Sydney joined the team in September 2025 after working at an all species vet clinic and as a zookeeper at Cat Tales Wildlife Center. After traveling the world for most of her life, Sydney and her Irish husband have made Spokane home. They have two cats - Jacques and Jeanette, who bring so much joy and energy to their lives! In her free time, Sydney loves to be out in the mountains, traveling, hiking, photographing wildlife, and hanging out with her family.

Melanie

Melanie has a passion for vet med and all living things. She brings with her 5 years of animal handling and over 15 years of customer service experience. When she’s not sitting up front on Mondays, she’s working as a Cat and Dog groomer or working with the rescue she volunteers for. She comes home to a loving husband + and 4 kitties and 2 dogs; Daisy, River, Billy, Dundee, Lucy, and Newt. Melanie enjoys to spend time exploring the outdoors, working with her foster dogs, searching for birds, thrifting for a good deal, or enjoying time with her family and friends.
